Kootingal’s Gate Street will undergo beautification works as part of the first round of funding allocated to our region by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.

This exciting project will improve the overall look of Gate Street for the enjoyment of Kootingal residents, and is expected to support the local economy through boosting tourism outcomes for the community.

Planned upgrades

This is the draft plan for community feedback, planning is still underway but improvements to Gate Street are expected to include the establishment of additional trees, as well as upgrades to footpaths, lighting, median strips and rising of the pedestrian crossing.

Costs and funding

The beautification of Gate Street will be funded in full as part of the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Infrastructure Program, which has been developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program aims to support local jobs and businesses during what has been an extremely tough period for the Australian economy.

In the first of two phases of funding, our region will benefit from a total $2.65 million to be spent improving local amenities and infrastructure.
