We're planning a new community meeting place for Weabonga.
As part of the Local Roads and Infrastructure Program funding Weabonga Hall project has been identified as a priority project.
The Weabonga Hall is in a state of non-repair. The funding will allow us to demolish the hall and erect a new open plan structure. This is an exciting opportunity for the community to have a modern structure to be used for social gathering and in times of need it would serve as an emergency assembly point.
About the project
- The new structure will be stand alone from the Rural Fire Service Shed, ensuring that access to and around the shed is freely available.
- The existing power supply will be upgraded and extended to the barbeque facility.
- The existing water tank located on the rear of the hall building will be relocated over next to the toilet block. A hand basin will be installed in the disability access toilet.
The proposed barbeque facility will accommodates disability access and on the back panel of the new barbeque facility there is an opportunity to place a historical information board.
Council would like the assistance of the Committee and community with the provision of a brief history of the hall and if possible a suitable photo of the hall in it’s glory days may be able to be included on the board. Please forward to Council any information you may feel would be appropriate to add to the board.
We have two design options for the structure and seating and need your input to ensure the area will meet the community's current and future needs.
The seating is designed to accommodate for disability access.
Vote for your favourite before 9 April, 2021.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for their favourite structure and seating design.
