Tamworth Regional Council is developing a new 10 Year Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy which will set the framework for the delivery of reliable and sustainable waste services to meet community need and expectations.

In the waste, recycling and resource recovery space, we provide you with the following key activities and services:

• Kerbside waste collection services
• 11 waste management facilities (WMF)
• Maintaining community and environmental safety
• Access to the NSW EPA free residential Community Recycling Centre for 7 core problem household wastes (i.e. paint, household and vehicle batteries, products with embedded batteries, gas bottles, smoke detectors, fluoro tubes)
• An annual waste voucher (up to 4 uses)
• A kerbside bulky household waste on-demand service
• Free community disposal points for residents who have sealed sharps containers
• Free school, business and community education engagement (visits or tours)
• Street sweeping and litter collection services
• Access to the annual household chemical collection

We are seeking community input that will help shape and guide the strategy to deliver waste and resource recovery services that will support an increase in reuse, recycling and resource recovery.

Your input ensures we’re balancing the services and opportunities you want, with the services and operational requirements Council is obligated to meet and deliver to the community in a sustainable manner.

How to Provide Your Input towards the development of the Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy

Input to the draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy can be provided by completing the survey at the top of the page. We understand waste is different for households and businesses - a separate survey has been created for each. The survey should take between 5 and 6 minutes to complete.

The survey will close 5pm Tuesday 30 June 2026.

All input received will be taken into consideration as Council develops its new Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy.
