Overview

Tamworth Regional Councils Fraud and Corruption Prevention Policy (Policy) has been updated in line with work undertaken to meet the requirements of the Council’s Audit Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC). The ARIC had identified fraud and corruption prevention as a focus and encouraged Council to review existing documents and processes, including the Policy.

The purpose of the Policy is to outline the responsibilities of staff and the ethical and behavioural standards in relation to the prevention, detection and investigation of fraud and corruption in Tamworth Regional Council.

It is the aim of this Policy to protect the assets, funds, resources, community confidence and corporate reputation of Council from providing personal benefit to Council employees, Councillors, volunteers, external companies, external individuals, contractors or consultants and other third parties.

The Policy update forms part of a larger piece of work with the aim of continuing to build a corruption resistant culture at Tamworth Regional Council by promoting ethical behaviour and encouraging accountability and transparency in Council processes and dealings with external parties.

Amendments to the Policy include:

  • Removing procedural information
  • Updating terminology
