The Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 (NSW) (PID Act) commenced on 1 October 2023.Under section 42 of the PID Act Tamworth Regional Council is required to have a Public Interest Disclosure Policy (Policy).Tamworth Regional Council has developed a draft Policy based on the NSW Ombudsman’s model public interest disclosure policy which supports and protects public officials who report suspected wrongdoing and specifies Tamworth Regional Council’s procedures for receiving, assessing and dealing with public interest disclosures.

The draft Policy will be on public exhibition for community feedback for a 28-day period, commencing from Friday 10 May, 2024 and ending on Friday 7 June, 2024. Adoption of the Policy will be by future Council Meeting in 2024.
