Background
Tamworth Regional Council's existing Social Media Policy has been in place for a number of years. More recently, the Office of Local Government NSW developed a model social media policy which includes best practice from social media policies of a diverse range of NSW councils as well as from Commonwealth and State Government agencies.
We have taken the opportunity review our policy, combining elements with the Office of Local Government's model social media policy. It is best practice for Council to adopt the model social media policy provided by the Office of Local Government.
Councillors at the Ordinary Meeting of 29 April 2025 endorsed the 28-day public exhibition of the draft policy to seek feedback from the local community.
Proposed policy
We are now encouraging the community to read the draft policy and give us feedback about the proposed new policy.
A further report will be prepared for Council's consideration after this public exhibition.
All formal feedback received will be provided to Councillors to assist them in their decision making to finalise the draft policy and then consider its formal adoption.
Provide your feedback
To provide your feedback about the draft Social Media Policy, please complete the form on this page. A copy of the draft policy and the Council report about the draft policy are included in the document library on this page.
Feedback is open until 5pm Thursday 6 June, 2025.
