Update
The next stage of the Manilla Road (Peel Street) Upgrade involves installing new traffic lights at the Jewry Street intersection.
Work will include :
- Removing two roundabouts and installing traffic signals at Jewry Street,
- Changes to vehicle access for the Spotlight and Chemist Warehouse shopping centre, and
The NSW Government is funding these latest stages of the Manilla Road Upgrade budgeted to cost $6 million. Tamworth Regional Council will undertake the construction on behalf of Roads and Maritime
The Jewry Street intersection upgrade will be undertaken alongside construction of the Jewry Street Bridge Duplication and is expected to take about three months to complete (weather permitting).

About the Project
Previously completed work on Manilla Road dating back to 2011 - representing an investment of almost $15 million - has included upgrades between Johnston and Conimbla streets; Conimbla Street and Brolga Crescent; Brolga Crescent and Lemon Gums Drive; and Tribe Street to Marius Street.
The Manilla Road Upgrade aims to improving the condition, safety and lifespan of a vital link road which has about 14,000 daily traffic movements.
The NSW Government has invested almost $21 million in improving Manilla Road to provide easier, faster and safer travel through Tamworth with improved pedestrian access.
