Namoi River Crossing Project - Commencement of Works

24 September 2020

Works are anticipated to start in early October 2020 with the first activity on site being the construction of two new water mains, the start of bridge foundations, and the upgrade of the Market Street and Arthur Street intersection. Minor roadworks will get underway in November 2020 with the major part of the roadworks commencing in February 2021. All works are expected to be completed in mid-2021.

We will deliver the $9.77 million project, which involves the construction of a new bridge across the Namoi River at Arthur Street. The project also includes connecting roadworks between the intersection with Market Street to the south of the bridge, and the intersection with Barraba Street via Rowan Street to the north of the bridge.

The project is funded by the NSW Government under the Restart NSW – Growing Local Economies Fund to improve the safety and efficiency of vehicles travelling across the Namoi River.

Construction will take place between 7am and 5pm on weekdays and where required, 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

Traffic controls will be in place during construction. Road users are urged to follow directions provided by on site signage and traffic control staff. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
