About

While our sewer systems are mostly out of sight and out of mind, they are also one of the most crucial pieces of a city's infrastructure.

Corrosive gases gradually dissolve concrete structures like maintenance holes in our sewer system, which is why 34 maintenance holes in Tamworth and 16 maintenance holes in Barraba will soon be rehabilitated.

By applying a coating of calcium aluminate cement (CAC), we can give these maintenance holes another 25+ years of life!

The 50 maintenance holes will be gradually rehabilitated over a three month period.

Aligning with Council’s priority to deliver durable infrastructure for our region’s growing population, these works are one way Council uses ratepayer’s sewer rates.

Take a look at the interactive map below to see which maintenance holes in Tamworth and Barraba are scheduled for works.

Funding

Fully funded by Council, we are investing $300,000 into this required rehabilitation works to ensure that our sewer system remains robust for years to come.

Council has engaged FITT Resources to undertake these works.
