Why is this project needed?

Werris Creek Road is the main route between Tamworth, Werris Creek and Quirindi. The road is currently sealed, but there are concerns about its safety as a major freight route as the road is currently narrow and bumpy.

As a result, a 17km stretch of Werris Creek Road will be widened and reconstructed from the Bylong Road intersection to the Tamworth LGA boundary at Currabubula. Existing intersections along the road will also be upgraded.

The upgrade of Werris Creek Road will allow local residents to enjoy a safer, smoother trip when travelling between Tamworth and Quirindi.

Funding

This project has been made possible through funding from the NSW Government, contributing $10 million to improve the safety of Werris Creek Road.
