Safety improvements

As part of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (Phase 2), $200,000 has been allocated increase the safety of popular cycling routes around Tamworth.

This project has been created as a direct result of the priorities set out by the Active Transport Strategy. This project also links back to Blueprint 100’s goal to ‘connect our region and its citizens’, by creating a well connected, efficient and safe movement network that serves businesses and commuters, as well as citizens who opt to walk and cycle.

The project will involve installing signage along popular cycling routes notifying drivers that they have entered a ‘share the road’ and should be cautious of cyclists as well as line marking for cyclists including centre and edge lines.

These roads were identified using feedback from key cycling user groups including the Tamworth Bicycle Users Group (TAMBUG) and the Tamworth Cycling Club.
