Stewart Avenue completed works

Why?

We are giving priority to improving cycleways and shared paths because the community responded to a survey last year indicated they are eager to cycle more often, but want more shared paths to ensure a safer environment.

We applied for funding when NSW Government grants were made available to regional areas for these type of projects. It was a great result that from 45 councils, our strong application was the one which secured the funding.

What?

The Stewart Avenue shared pathway is the first of a series of similar projects around the region which aim to make it easier for residents to connect with schools, sporting facilities, parks and other facilities. The pathway will be used by cyclists and pedestrians.

When?

Construction is planned for mid September starting on Warral Road, and is expected to take about five weeks to complete.

Work will progress from Warral Road, along Stewart Avenue up to the Ridge Street intersection. Working hours will be between 7am and 5pm on weekdays.

We are making every effort to ensure the works will have a minimal impact on residents and road users.

How?

RMS has awarded Council $3.284 million over a three year period. It is envisaged funding will complete most of the "missing links" in our existing cycling network.

Warral Road connection from Stewart Avenue to the existing path outside the retirement village will be the first project on the list.
