Overview

To complement the Riverside and Gipps St shared pathway projects, a section of shared pathway will also be constructed along the levee bank from Locks Lane Car Park to Thibault Street.

These pathways will fill the gaps in our existing pathway network and will create a wider, safer and more comfortable trip along the Peel River, whether members of our community prefer to walk or cycle. Providing an even sealed surface and wider track, this project will help to ensure the safety of our local residents.

Design

The new path will provide an extension to the existing path that currently finishes above Locks Lane Car Park on the western levee bank.

The shared path will be 2.5 metres wide and constructed from asphalt. Access ramps will be built at either end of the new levee shared path to enable cyclists to easily ride up and over the levee bank.

The Thibault Street end of the new shared path will link up with the existing path along Goonoo Goonoo Road, providing a link for walkers and cyclists all the way back to the CBD via Scott Road.
