Project Update - July 2020

30 July 2020

In February 2020, the proposed Tamworth Organic Recycling Facility Project was reviewed by the determining authority, the Northern Regional Planning Panel (the Panel) and in summary “the Panel agreed to defer determination of the matter until all of the aforementioned information is provided in an updated assessment report. After the assessment report is received a public meeting will be held to enable consideration and determination of the application.”. Please see ‘Project Update – JRPP Meeting’ post for further detail.

The department commissioned consultants to undertake a detailed review of its final response considerations prior to submitting its NRPP response to the Planning & Compliance department. The key focus was to ensure there is sound understanding of the recommendations made in this response, backed up by factual data supported by industry experts and to highlight any inconsistencies with the view of addressing these in the detail design phase of the project. Most of this information has been completed, with one current outstanding item, which is expected to be addressed no later than mid August. The requested additional information will be submitted for review to Council’s Planning & Compliance staff before being referred back to the Panel for determination.

The additional information, once submitted will be made publically available on the Planning & Compliance, Online Development Hub webpage and listed under the project website’s document library.

It is anticipated that following the review by Council’s Planning & Compliance staff, the Project may be considered by the Panel at their meeting in September.
