One Tree Hill Reservoir refurbishment is nearly underway

14 August 2019

One Tree Hill Reservoir refurbishment work will soon commence. Prior to this work being able to begin the remaining water needs to be removed. Once removed from the reservoir the water becomes non-potable meaning the available options for use of this water are limited.

Following last night’s Council meeting a decision was made to use this water to fill the South and West Tamworth War Memorial Swimming Pool (Scully). Council is yet to make a decision on whether or not they will alter the Drought Management Plan to allow a pool to open if Tamworth, Moonbi and Kootingal move to level 5 water restrictions. It was agreed however that with the urgency in which the water needs to be removed that filling Scully Pool was the best option.

Should Council decide not to open a pool under level 5 water restrictions the water will remain in Scully Pool until it is able to open.

Tankers will be used to carry the water from the reservoir to Scully Pool. It will take approximately 35 tankers to move the water with the first trip to be made later today.
