Progress Video - April 2019

One of its kind in the New England North West, the Viaduct Park Youth Recreation Hub, a modern skate park with specialised components, will attract regional skating competition events and provide a recreational site for our youth.

Creating safe and stimulating recreational spaces for youths of our region is a focus for Council. Centrally located, Viaduct Park Youth Recreation Hub was conceived through strategic planning community consultation processes. We heard that the current skate park infrastructure was stressed and not adequate for today's and future needs.

Council then began the journey of exploring potential sites whilst considering the recreational needs of our youths and region. Design concepts were developed in conjunction with youth representative groups. Construction of the Viaduct Park Youth Recreation Hub started in January 2019 with the project expected to be completed by June 2019.

What will the Hub include?

The aim of the Viaduct Park Youth Recreation Hub is to create a new contemporary multi-generational space that caters to a range of recreation and social opportunities for young people, families and the Tamworth community.

The project includes;

  • a modern skate park
  • small 'flow' park - learn to ride space
  • LED lighting
  • landscaping
  • new toilet block
  • BBQ with sheltered spaces
  • car park

The events hill has been designed to allow a range of different uses and configurations for events including skate competitions, concerts, movie nights, outdoors exhibitions and food stalls.
