About the project

We acknowledge the vital role Victoria Park plays in sustaining the social and environmental qualities of local communities.

There is an opportunity to revise the current Victoria Park master plan to bring it up to date, as well as consider future connectivity, placement of key infrastructure, possible locations for public art, location and extent of passive and active recreational areas and sustainable management of trees and vegetation.

The park has evolved to become a major tourist destination within the region attracting thousands of visitors every year.

Key objectives

This project will produce an overarching plan for the park as well as each key area. The master plan will be utilised to successfully grow and maintain the area in a way that satisfies the needs of the local community and visiting tourists.

The key objectives of the master plan are to;

  • Identify and address issues with the park
  • Identify opportunities to improve connectivity between Victoria Park and Tamworth CBD
  • Identify and improve pedestrian connectivity within the park
  • Consider future development of the park and its impact on existing facilities
  • Enhance existing and investigate future tourism opportunities within the park

Community input is critical to this project to ensure we have an understanding from the perspective of residents and tourists to the region. This will be sought during the public exhibition period 11 February to 11 March 2021.
