Overview

The Viaduct Park Master Plan is coming to life!

We have been busy working on plans to expand and improve the Youth Recreation Hub.

In addition to the skate park installed last year and Youth Training Café soon to be constructed, Viaduct Park will soon boast a pump track for scooter enthusiasts, a half court basketball court and a rooftop dining space and alfresco dining area to complement the Youth Training Café.

The new projects will allow the Youth Recreation Hub to continue to be a dynamic multi-purpose space that has the capacity to cater for a range of different programs and opportunities. We aim to create an inclusive facility that caters for all ages and abilities.

Funding

The new pump track, basketball half-court and climbing wall in Viaduct Park have been made possible through $280,000 in funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through this program, the Tamworth region is benefiting from over $11 million in funding, which is available for local road or community infrastructure projects. From this funding, $180,000 has been invested in the new pump track and half basketball court, with the climbing wall an additional investment of $100,000.

The Youth Training Café was funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund, contributing $369,173 to the project. Additional embellishments to the café including a rooftop dining space and alfresco area downstairs dining space were awarded a further $210,000 funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. The new café also received a $25,000 contribution from Tamworth Regional Council and a $25,000 contribution from operator Joblink Plus.
