What is the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program?

The Australian Government’s Local Roads and Infrastructure Program, first announced in May 2020, was developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to support local jobs and businesses during what has been an extremely tough period for the Australian economy.

In Phase One of funding, our region has been allocated $2.65 million to be spent improving local amenities and infrastructure in the first half of 2021.

Phase Two will see the Tamworth region benefit from a further $3.41 million, with projects to be completed by 30 December 2021. This total of almost $6 million in federal government funding will enable us to construct 29 new projects we know are important to you, creating crucial local infrastructure and helping our community recover financially.
